Auditor Sharon D. Richter took office in January 2003 after working in the Auditor’s office eight years. Sharon previously worked in the Clerk's office for six years.

There are only three people in the office to perform all of the functions of the Auditor's office. Our duties include the accounting services for the entire county; that includes the Columbia County Transportation Authority, the Columbia County Rural Library District, three Fire Districts and Ditch Districts. We prepare payroll for the county and Transportation Authority. There are many grants that flow through our office as well. One of our other many tasks is the auto licensing – we have no sub-agents in our county.

The Auditor’s office conducts all elections and maintains files for Public Disclosure.  We record all public documents as well as research genealogy. We sell marriage licenses and dance licenses.
