Ongoing Absentee Ballot

To receive an ongoing absentee ballot before each election you must apply in writing to the Franklin County Election office at PO Box 1451, Pasco WA 99301. To expedite this request, print the Absentee Ballot Request form and check "ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS (Permanent Absentee Voter)". Once your request is received and processed, we will send you an absentee ballot for every election in which you are eligible to vote.

Instructions for Voting an Absentee Ballot

  • Each ballot packet will consist of a 1) ballot(s), 2) security envelope, and 3) a return outer mailing envelope.
  • Mark your ballot in secret by detaching the circle to the right of your choices using a pencil or pen.
  • You may write in candidates in the spaces provided but be sure to also detach the circled cross to the right of the name.
  • Remove Stub end from the ballot and discard.
  • When done, insert the ballot into the security sleeve and the security sleeve into the outer mailing envelope.
  • Be sure to sign the affidavit on the outer mailing envelope. Note that although two people may witness a mark of someone unable to sign, signing by power of attorney is not allowed.
  • Ballots must be returned or postmarked by election day to be valid.
  • Replacement ballots may be obtained simply by calling our office (509-545-3538) if you select a candidate in error, damage, or misplace your absentee ballot.
