OCEAN SHORES  MAYOR

I retired as a Navy Captain in 2001 and have routinely attended budget reviews, City Council and Town Hall meetings. The lack of openness and unwillingness to listen to the people is why I have decided to run for Mayor. Our huge city debt, continued spending and absence of financial analysis is alarming. I have a BS in accounting and an MS in financial management. Together with my education, leadership and management skills we will ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability of city resources. I will represent you. Together we can continue to make our city the best place to live.

I retired to Ocean Shores in 1989. I spent 28 years in a supervisory management position dealing with multimillion dollar budgets, labor relations and as an administrator over 650 employees.  Since moving to our city, I have served one term on the City Council, am currently president of the Airport Advisory Committee, served on the Public Works Advisory Committee and have been active with the Crime Watch program for 17 years.  I believe my management and leadership skills, fiscal responsibility and dedication to an honest and open government makes me the best candidate to represent the citizens of Ocean Shores.

Ocean Shores is starting a new phase of city government that promises to be more open, responsive and accountable to the people. I belive strongly in these principles and want to be a part of making it work. I support balanced growth that is well planned and managed and protects and preserves our quality of life and natural environment. We need better visibility, information and control of city budgets, financing and spending. I look forward to the opportunity to serve as your council representative. I would appreciate your consideration and support.

As a resident of Ocean Shores, I have watched and listened to, countless, council meetings.  I have come to realize the need is not for more opinions but for qualified leadership.  Knowing what should be done is good.  Knowing how to get it done is better.  I have spent the last 35 years in business and government.  I am a Fraud Examiner, Business man, settlement negotiater, and auther.  I have a BS in Criminal Justice.  My goal is to help create a cooperative environment for a city council.  Vote for creative, responsible growth with less burden on you the taxpayer.

I am concerned with the direction our city government has taken in the last few years and decided to run for a city council position in the up coming election. I believe in an open, honest, transparent and fiscally responsible government that listens to all the people then acts in their best interest. I believe in proper business practices, accounting principals and laws being applied to all transactions carried on by the city. I am writing this letter to you the voters of Ocean Shores as an introduction and ask for your support in the coming special election.

I owned my Tacoma business for 32 years prior to retirement, served on the Tacoma School Board,  and was very active in civic and professional activities.  I have both a BA and an MBA in Business Administration.  Since retiring to Ocean Shores in 2004, I have volunteered at both the Chamber of Commerce and Ocean Shores Elementary, and am active in the Ocean Shores Kiwanis and  Galilean Lutheran Church. To be effective, a city council must work with all of its citizens.  With your vote, I will continue to use my experience to make Ocean Shores an outstanding community.
