Island County is a vote-by-mail county. This means that ballots continue to come in to the office after Election Day by way of the Postal Service. Provided that the postmark on the ballot is no later than the day of the election, these ballots are added into the count.
Estimates of ballots left to count include ballots to be reviewed by the Island County Canvass Board, ballots with unresolved signature issues and ballots which may continue to be received in the mail.
