THE CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD IS CLOSED.
These non-partisan offices of city and town council members, school directors and special purpose district commissioners will be elected at the General Election to be conducted on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The Primary Election, if applicable, will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009.
A Special Filing Period will be held for offices in which no candidate has filed, or for offices that became vacant prior to the statutory deadline for appearing on the 2009 ballot.
This filing period will be June 15, 16 and 17, 2009.
Primary Election: Primaries will be required if more than two candidates file for the same position (RCW 29A.52.220).
Exception: Park and Recreation District and Cemetery District Commissioners do not appear in a Primary Election (RCW 29A.52.220).
School District : Candidates must be registered voters within the school district and reside within the director district filed upon (exception: District Directors who serve "at large" throughout the district).
City/Town Council: Candidates must be registered voters within the city/town and a resident for at least one (1) year prior to the election.
Fire/Sewer Districts: Candidates must be registered voters and reside within the district filed upon.
Hospital/Port Districts: Candidates must be registered voters and reside within the district filed upon.
Dike/Drain Districts: Election for commissioners will be held on February 2, 2010. Filing period will be December 2009.
