Jefferson County expands elections website

Voters in Jefferson County now have greater access to local and statewide elections information via an expanded elections website. The site features a list of local and statewide offices open in the current election, a list of candidates who have filed for office prior to each election and descriptions of the duties for each elective office available to registered voters who meet the qualifications for the position. Voters can also view candidate statements and photos prior to elections and then track election results for their county and the entire state on election night.

On the site, anyone can download mail-in voter registration forms in English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Cambodian, Korean, Laotian and Vietnamese or retrieve their own free electronic copy of an Elections and Voting Frequently Asked Questions booklet that is presented in English, Spanish and Chinese. The booklet gives information about special elections, recounts, initiatives and referenda along with many other topics. Informational web pages on registering people to vote, the Pick-a-Party Primary and military and overseas voting are also available in English, Chinese and Spanish.

The website is made possible through the Washington Election Information (WEI) system, a collaborative effort between the state’s 39 County Auditors and the Office of the Secretary of State. WEI can simultaneously access several state election databases and present information from those databases on Jefferson’s own elections website.

A personalized voter information page is also available through the site. Look for the MyVote link to see candidate statements, elected official contact information and the location of ballot drop boxes in your county.
