Marriage Licenses
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Applicants 17 years of age must have their parents or guardian sign a release form.
- Applicants under 17 years of age must have permission from Juvenile Court.
- Photo identification is required.
- The fee for a marriage license is $32.00 cash only, no personal checks accepted.
- There is also a $3.00 fee for a certified copy of your marriage license.
- In the State of Washington there is a 3-day waiting period.
- The 3-day waiting period starts from the date application has been made and certified at the Auditor's office. Our office then prepares, post dates, and issues the official Certificate of Marriage (which has the 3-day waiting period associated with it), to the happy couple. Rather than have the individuals involved come back 3 days later to pick up the application.
- Once the 3-day waiting period is up, the Certificate of Marriage must be finalized within 60 days or it becomes void.
- It is best for the bride and groom to come in and apply. If that is not possible, one of the parties must pick up an application. The party unable to come in must sign their portion of the application and have it notarized by a Notary Public. The other party then returns the application to our office, we fill out the remaining information and issue the license, collecting the fee at that time.
