Assistance to Voters with Disabilities
In compliance with the Help America Vote Act of 2002, the Spokane County Elections Office has Disability Accessibility Voting Units (AVUs) available for voters who need assistance in filling out their ballot.
The AVUs can display larger type or can provide an audio ballot for persons with visual or cognitive disabilities. Voters can also cast their ballot by using the touch screen or tactile button options.
The AVUs are available at the Elections Office beginning 20 days before the election until 8:00 pm Election Night. They are also available at Voter Service Centers, Election Day only from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. In order to use the AVUs, voters must bring their ballot to the Elections Office or Voter Service Center.
The AVUs are available for voter outreach events and to organizations providing services to persons with disabilities. Contact the Spokane County Elections Office for details.
