Top 2 Primary
On August 19, 2008 Washington State voters will cast their ballots in the first ever Top 2 Primary. This is a new election system developed in response to Initiative I-872 passed by state voters in 2005.
Unlike the last several Primaries, voters do not have to designate a party in order to participate. Candidates can indicate their party preference when filing for office. Party endoresements or nominations will not be indicated on the ballot, only the candidates preference, if they indicate one, will be listed on the ballot.
The Top 2 vote getters in each race will go on to the November General Election regardless of their party preference. |
